My wrong/outdated/mixed up knowledge of the system + Finally we got what should be a normal "POSIX" NFS mount (no ACL) on a local HPC. I immediately ventured to test git-annex (and datalad) on that file system. git annex 8.20210803-g99bb214 and git 2.30.2 both coming from conda. with basic operations -- it felt like it works ok.
