+### Please describe the problem.
+
+I have been trying to get to the bottom of it but failed
+
+Seems to relate to the version and/or build of git-annex on remote end, but happens whenever on remote it is a conda-forge build 8.20210621-g91f9aac 
+
+Whenever I can get/drop without `--debug`, with `--debug` it fails:
